On Monday 8th February the cyclists set out for what should have been a short 4-mile journey just down the road to the Masonic Hall in Sudbury. However in the true spirit of the challenge the cyclists set off on a route across country in a large semi circle to add on a few miles and make things a little more challenging…Brother Nick picked the route and after 8 miles the cyclists arrived at the Hall suitably covered in mud and wet! So much so that Brother Andy had to phone upstairs to get the Secretary WBro Stuart Andrews to come down to take a photograph for fear of being expelled from the hall for dropping mud on the carpet!
Photograph taken and it was a quick cycle back home for a shower and to get changed into more acceptable attire to attend the meeting.
The members of Gainsborough Lodge warmly welcomed brothers Andy and Nick.
The Worshipful Master WBro David Hicks opened the Lodge and the Brethren were then treated to a Lecture entitled “Criminals and Freemasonry” which was delivered by WBro Paul Cammiss.
Gainsborough Lodge is a Lodge of research and has a demonstration team who travel around the province.
Following the meeting the Brethren enjoyed an excellent Festive board. WBro Gentle was asked to give the reply to the visitors toast and took the opportunity to explain to the Brethren the aim and purpose of the cycling challenge and their progress to date. He was then presented with a donation of £100 towards their cycling challenge in support of the Festival 2019 from the Brethren of Gainsborough Lodge.
That evening the Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro John Rice was also visiting Gainsborough.
So thank you Gainsborough Lodge for a warm welcome and for your support, as always it is very much appreciated.
