This was the penultimate cycle ride of the masonic season before the summer break, and the second visit to Soane Street this week, but not the last…..
The weather has finally improved and WBro Andy felt the need to strip down to a T-Shirt for this ride, something of a novelty so far this summer. After a thankfully uneventful ride WBro Andy and Bro Nick Moulton arrived at the Lodge a minute behind Mondays time thanks to a strong headwind and the bad timing of the traffic lights on the route through Ipswich.
As has become the custom the cyclists and their support crew were given a very warm welcome by the members of St Lukes Lodge. The scheduled ceremony was unfortunately cancelled so WBro Andy was asked to give a more in depth talk on the challenge that he had embarked upon to cycle to all of the lodges in the Province of Suffolk. This gave him the opportunity to explain explain in more detail all about the idea and the progress to date. Bro Nick Moulton also gave a talk on the RMBI, the Festival jewels and charitable giving in general. A Grand Lodge certificate was presented by WBro Roger Cawston and the Brethren then retired to the bar. The festive board followed with a hearty meal and the usual good fellowship and camaraderie.
WBro Gentle was then presented with the proceeds of the raffle towards the cycling challenge which was a very generous sum of £170 to go towards the RMBI Festival 2019.
Brother Stephen Martin-Halls from Priory Lodge was once again there in support of the cyclists to get them home safely.
