Tuesday 8th May saw was a pleasant sunny morning and Brother Andy set off to visit Lodge of Wisdom in Ipswich.
This was the penultimate visit to the Ipswich Masonic Centre at Soane Street having cycled and visited here some 13 times since the beginning of the challenge. Today however was a solo trip for Brother Andy due to Brother Nick being unwell and unable to make the meeting. The journey was uneventful and quiet, not only due to the lack of Brother Nick’s moaning about how steep the hills to Ipswich are but also due to Lodge of Wisdom being a daytime Lodge meeting in the morning. Arriving at Soane Street at 10am all the rush hour traffic was gone and Brother Andy made good time.
He was warmly welcomed by many familiar faces and greeted by Brothers anew. The meeting started at 11am and the Brethren received a paper entitled “The Inn Keeper” given by WBro Michael Staff which was and interesting talk. At the end of the meeting Brother Andy was informed that the Lodge would be donating £200 towards the Festival 2019 and in support of his cycling visit to Lodge of Wisdom.
The Festive Board was a very pleasant meal with good company and excellent food. Brother Andy’s meal was paid for by the Lodge which was a most welcome and generous gesture. During the Festive board the Worshipful Master WBro Gary Smith presented Brother Andy with the cheque for £200. This was very significant in that with this donation the Target that Andy & Nick had set themselves was exceeded! £15,000 raised towards the Festival 2019 with 3 Lodges still to go.
So, thank you Lodge of Wisdom for your warm welcome and generosity. Your support and positive comments as always, are very much appreciated.
The support driver for this journey was Brother Andy’s wife Julie who enjoyed a lunch out and shopping in Ipswich at his expense……
