On Tuesday 24thApril the cyclists set off to visit Round Table Lodge of Suffolk, Bro Nick’s own Lodge where that evening he would be installed as its Master! So, it was with a degree of trepidation that they set off, no room for punctures, being late or crashing today…The forecast the evening before was for rain for most of the journey and indeed it did rain while they enjoyed a pre-journey coffee. However, as soon as they set off along the by now well-known route to Ipswich any sign of rain had gone, the sun even making a brief appearance towards the end of the route. The cyclists arrived safely at Soane St to a cheering reception committee of Round Table Lodge members.

The Brothers were warmly greeted by many familiar faces, for once there were not many new ones with many Brothers from Priory, Sportsman’s and Stour Valley Lodges visiting to see Bro Nick installed as Master. They all had time to enjoy a beer amongst friends before the meeting commenced.

Brother Nick was installed in an excellent manner by WBro Chris Warnes and became the 31st Master of the Round Table Lodge of Suffolk. Due to life’s circumstances, it had been a 27-year journey for Bro Nick to become Master. The installation meeting, working tools and addresses were all delivered very well and it was a fitting and well deserved end to that journey to see Bro Nick become WBro Nick.

There followed an excellent and lively Festive board, with the Brethren enjoying an excellent meal in the company of friends and Brothers. At the Festive Board a presentation was made to Andy & Nick of £500 towards their cycling challenge. An excellent donation indeed, delivered by the Charity Steward WBro Rodger Oatley on a giant cheque! WBro Andy had the pleasure of replying to the visitor’s toast and combined this with thanks to the Lodge for the superb and generous donation. He couldn’t resist slipping in a few interesting cycling stories at WBro Nicks expense however.

So, thank you to Round Table Lodge, yet again a very warm welcome, a great installation meeting and festive board together with a fantastic donation. Your support and positive comments as always are very much appreciated.
